  • Versatile, Underrated Hybrid - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

Ford 4 WD Sport Trac is solid, quiet, highriding, and well-appointed. The price is similar to the Escape, but the Sport Trac is a serious vehicle while the Escape is a fun run- about. The Sport Trac offer versatility: a comfortable 5 passenger car, a short bed pick up, an SUV. The back seats fold down flat to provide great interior cargo space; and, theres 5-foot external bed (6 extended. The Sport Trac has big, thick upholstering. The "utility" in the Escape SUV is very limited, while the usefulness of the Sport Trac inspires imagination. The Sport Trac engine has a powerful deep rumble which sound as if it can "take it".

  • GREAT Family SUT - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I bought this truck used with about 30k. It now has over 50K and the only problem was left rear turn signal would not work sometimes. I tracked the problem to the switch in the column. The wire for that bulb was too short, factory defect, and would get pulled enough to stop the electrical feed. Other than that it has been a great little truck.

Have had a new thermostat put in. Have also had to have air/fuel valve replaced. Buts its a fund truck to drive and very versatile with pickup bed and room for 5 adults!

Very nice five passenger SUV with the ability to haul a small about of materials. Get the tail gate extender and soft bed cover - well worth it. Only draw back is the gas milage - 18 mpg.

  • Best Truck Ive Ever Owned - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I was driving to the Jeep dealer to trade in and buy a new Jeep when I saw the Sport Trac. I stopped and looked at the truck, with no sales pressure I went for a test drive and loved every minute. I got a great price and drove home. After 105k miles this truck has never let me down. I can`t say this about the imports Ive owned.

  • A solid vehicle - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I have driven several Fords over the past 25+ years and none compare to my Sport Trac. I totaly love this truck. I have 2 small children and it handles my family and needs quite nicely. I sometimes wish for a longer bed but I knew how long it was when I bought it right? My wife drives an Explorer also but jumps at the chance to take my Sport Trac every time. The seats are comfortable and the for a V-6 has great power. To every one who read the Consumer Report on the Sport Trac, remember opinions are like armpits. Everyone has them and some stink! Hats off to Ford on the Sport Trac!!!!!

  • 210,000---Need I say more - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

210,000 miles has not broke down once! No motor problems at all. Now that I wrote this review it will probably break down---right! (Actually I am knocking on wood). I think I have been very lucky with this truck. Do and would recommend to anyone.

  • Excellent SUV - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

We love our SportTrac and plan to purchase another one this year. Absolutely NO problems at any time. Its a joy to drive and very convienient with the extended bed. Highly recommend!

  • Next Truck will be one of these too! - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

I purchased mine used and it has been great. It has the rust trap running boards but for a couple hundred bucks, thats fixed. The rear window likes to think theres an obstruction if the window is wet and it wont roll up. But, I will buy a new one when this one finally dies. I never once got stuck in the harsh Midwest ice storms and snows of last year. People complain about ride quality, but this is one of the nicest riding trucks I have ever had. It has a nice look, nice features, nice abilities. Gas mileage could be better, but again, truck. My wife even likes it and she is used to a Grand Cherokee with a luxury car ride and feel.
